Martha Pichey was born in a small Connecticut town that felt a million miles away from a big city.  She graduated from Syracuse University, and began her publishing career at Scholastic and Travel & Leisure.  Then she met an Englishman in New York, and moved to London where they raised three sons.  She continued her career as a freelancer, and gained a Masters in Screenwriting.

Now back in New York City, she is a proud member of both the Playwrights/Directors Workshop at The Actors Studio and the Beehive Collective. A member of the Dramatists Guild, she has been a resident at SPACE on Ryder Farm and was a Writing Fellow with Athena Theatre for 2018.

Her first play, ASHES & INK, was produced in September, 2022, by women’s theater company Nora’s Playhouse. It was produced Off-Broadway in October, 2024, at AMT Theater in NYC.
